Budi Winarto
A Jazz enthusiast, Budi has
worked with John Heard, Joe LaBarbera, and Jeff Kashiwa during his twelve
years in Los Angeles as well as earning a diploma of composition and
arranging at the Grove School of Music there. Private studies included
such luminaries as Bob Sheppard, Phil Sobel, Rick Rossi and Jeff Benedict
for saxophones and Joe DiBartolo for bass.
He also found time to study
in the classical genre with flutist Karen Lundgren and Peter Lloyd,
principal flutist with the London Symphony Orchestra.
Playing all the saxophones,
clarinet, flute and upright bass, Budi performed at many venues around Los
Angeles including the House of Blues, and Cal State University as well as
with one of the top ten R & B bands in L.A; Papa Hipp Too.
Before relocating to L.A.
Budi studied with the noted pianist, Bubi Chen in Jakarta, Indonesia where
he was born and raised.
In the year 2001, he came
back to his hometown, Jakarta, and worked with just about every artist
currently active there.
Seeking greater challenges,
he moved to Singapore with his family in 2002, where he is currently
working with all the top musicians, artists there as well as recording and
teaching.
